Science Plans Nov 26-30

Monday: The students will begin ch 5 section 1 and complete the lab A Penny For Your Thoughts and discuss the terms uniformitarianism and catastrophism. (spi.6.6.1)

Tuesday: The students will create a geologic column of their life. (spi.6.6.1) Please bring art supplies to class.

Wednesday: The students will discuss the the terms relative dating, superposition and geologic column. (ch 5 sec 2) They will also examine pictures and rock samples from the Grand Canyon. Finally, they will create a geologic column from outcrop samples. (spi.6.6.1)

Thursday: The students will illustrate and explain rock layers on pages 117 in the form of a 4 tab book. (spi.6.6.1)

Friday: The students will illustrate and explain the unconformities in the rock layers on pages 118-119 in the book. (spi.6.6.1)

Science Plans Nov. 19-23

Monday: The students will finish ch 4 by watching a video and Brain Pop on pollution. (spi.6.8.2)

Tuesday: The students will go to the computer lab to work on Study Island.

Wednesday: No School – Thanksgiving Break :)

Thursday: No School – Happy Thanksgiving!!! (Don’t eat too much)

Friday: No School -Thanksgiving Break :)

Science Plans Nov. 12-16

Note: Spaghetti Supper, Book Fair and Open House Thursday night. Hope to see you there! :)

Monday: No School

Tuesday: The students will create a poster with all of the information from Friday. (6.8.2)

Wednesday: The students will present their posters on pollution . (6.8.2)

Thursday: The students will focus on the aspects of nuclear waste. They will discuss the consequences of nuclear waste and view a video over environmental aspects and watch a Brain Pop video on nuclear waste. (spi.6.6.3)

Friday: The students will complete a quiz over pollution (spi.6.6.3)

Science Plans Nov. 5-9

NOTE: Family Science Night Tuesday November 6th from 6-7:30

Monday: Field Trip to the Pink Palace IMAX to see Deep Sea.

Tuesday: The students will watch “Jungles” as a follow up on symbiotic relationships in a different biome.

Wednesday: The students will begin ch 4 on the Good News and the Bad News about the environment. Students will work with a partner and create a T-Chart about the good and bad news in the environment using sections 1 and 2 as a guide. (spi.6.6.3)

Thursday: The students will go to the computer lab to research with a partner one type of pollution. They will need to find pictures of the pollution, explain the type of pollution, describe how it harms the environment and ways to improve this type of pollution. (6.8.2)

Friday: The students will create a poster with all of the information from Thursday. (6.8.2)
