Science Plans March 31 – April 4

Wednesday, April 2 TCAP Prep Night from 5:30 – 6:30- Parents please joins us for an informational meeting about the TCAP test.  

Monday: TCAP Review (Coach lessons 14,15,and 16 on Earth and space) (spi.’s 6.7.1,6.7.2,6.7.3)
Tuesday: TCAP Review (Coach lessons 17,18,19 and 20 on Earth and space) (spi.’s6.7.4,6.7.5,6.7.6,6.7.7)
Wednesday: TCAP Review (Coach lessons 21,22,23 on energy)(spi.’s6.14.1, 6.14.2,6.14.3)

Science Plans March 24-28

See everyone Saturday morning for our field trip to the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center!!!  

Monday: The students will complete ch 17 on Light.  The students will discuss the electromagnetic spectrum and the 7 different types of  waves(6.14.5).

Tuesday: The students will create a foldable on the 7 different types of waves. (6.14.5)
 

Wednesday: The students will examine the interactions of light waves. (reflection, refraction and absorption) ch 17 sec 3 page 495-500. spi.6.14.5 

Thursday: The students will watch a video and Brain Pop on light interactions. (spi.6.14.5)

Friday: Quiz on the electromagnetic spectrum and light interactions. (spi.6.14.5)

Science Plans March 10-14

The Space and Rocket Center trip to Huntsville, AL has been rescheduled for March 29th due to the weather.  All times, groups, buses and schedules remain the same.

Monday: The students will complete the quiz from Friday and review several lessons from the TCAP Coach book.

Tuesday: The students will complete the start up activity “Some Like It Hot” on page 361 in the text. They will also describe how temperature relates to kinetic energy and compare temperature scales. ch 13 sec 1 pages 362-366 (spi.6.14.4)

Wednesday:  The students will define heat and compare conduction, convection and radiation. They will also explain the differences between temperature, thermal energy and heat. ch 13 sec 2 pages 367-375 (spi.6.14.2)

Thursday: The students will complete the workbook pages for ch 13 sec 2 and create a foldable illustrating examples of conduction, convection and radiation. (spi.6.14.2)

Friday: The students will complete the ch 12 quiz on heat.

Science Plans March 3-7

Saturday, March 8 Field Trip to the Space and Rockert Center in Huntsville, AL

*** Please be at the school at 5AM to board the bus***  

Monday: The students will describe examples of energy conversions among the different forms of energy. (spi.6.14.4.)

Tuesday: The students will discuss the law of conservation of energy. (spi.6.14.4)

Wednesday: Think Link Test 3

Thursday: The students will examine renewable and nonrenewable energy sources and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of using various energy resources. (spi.6.14.4)

Friday: The students will complete the Start Up Activity Some Like It Hot from page 361 in the text. (spi.6.14.2)
