Science Plans Oct. 22-26

Reminder: Money for the Space and Rocket Center trip is due Nov. 2 (Registration forms can be found on my Huntsville page.)

Reminder: Money for the IMAX is due by Oct. 26 ($6.00 cash)

Monday: The students will complete the What Bird Lives Here? activity which models adaptations that birds have made in order to survive. (spi.6.5.1)

Tuesday: The students will present their Scientist Wanted posters.

Wednesday: The students will present their Scientist Wanted posters.

Thursday: The students will create a fossil record and discuss how fossil records provide evidence that organisms have changed over time. (spi.6.6.2) Power Media Plus video The Past.

Friday: The students will discuss how mass extinctions and changing characteristics lead to adaptations. They will also complete workbook pages associated with ch 3 section 1. (spi.6.5.1)

Reminder: Scientist Wanted Posters are due Oct. 23 (The rubric can be found on the Scientist Wanted page) 

Monday: The students will complete the three tab book on symbiotic relationships and the workbook pages for ch 2 section 3. (spi.6.2.1)

Tuesday: The students will complete the Dynamic Duos activity which models symbiotic relationships. (6.2.1)

Wednesday: The students will complete the What Bird Lives Here? activity which models adaptations that birds have made in order to survive. (6.5.1)

Thursday: The students will complete the ch 2 study guide and a vocabulary activity to prepare for the test on Friday.

HW: Study for the ch 2 test

Friday: The students will demonstrate mastery of the concepts presented in Ch 2 through a test.

For the students going on the Coon Creek Trip 

WHEN: Saturday, October 20, 2007 

ARRIVE: 7:45 AM (GMS PARKING LOT) (DO NOT BE LATE OR YOU MAY GET LEFT BEHIND) 

RETURN: 4PM (GMS PARKING LOT) 

WHAT TO BRING:

  • SACK LUNCH WITH DRINK
  • BOTTLED WATER (2-3)
  • SNACKS
  • HAT
  • SUNGLASSES
  • SUNSCREEN
  • TOWEL (OLD)
  • EXTRA PAIR OF SHOES AND SOCKS
  • EXTRA PAIR OF PANTS
  • SMALL BAG TO CARRY EVERYTHING IN

BE PREPARED TO GET DIRTY AND TO GET YOUR FEET WET AND MUDDY.  WEAR OLD CLOTHES, LAYERED FOR THE CHANGING WEATHER.  WEAR ENCLOSED SHOES. I WILL PROVIDE SACKS FOR OUR MUDDY SOCKS AND SHOES ON THE WAY HOME. 

IF YOU CHOOSE TO BRING ELECTRONICS FOR THE RIDE THERE AND BACK YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM.  THEY WILL BE LEFT ON THE BUS DURING THE FOSSIL DIG.
