Science Plans March 3-7

Saturday, March 8 Field Trip to the Space and Rockert Center in Huntsville, AL

*** Please be at the school at 5AM to board the bus***  

Monday: The students will describe examples of energy conversions among the different forms of energy. (spi.6.14.4.)

Tuesday: The students will discuss the law of conservation of energy. (spi.6.14.4)

Wednesday: Think Link Test 3

Thursday: The students will examine renewable and nonrenewable energy sources and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of using various energy resources. (spi.6.14.4)

Friday: The students will complete the Start Up Activity Some Like It Hot from page 361 in the text. (spi.6.14.2) 

Science Plans Feb. 25-29

KIDS KAN this week!! Bring in can goods to support the food bank. 

 Monday:  The students will work on Assignments 5, 6 and 7 for Study Island and lessons 10,11 an 12 in the TCAP Coach book.

EXTRA CREDIT Study Island is due Friday, Feb.29

Tuesday: The students will compare kinetic and potential energy and summarize the different types of energy. (spi.6. 14.4)

Wednesday: The students will create a foldable on the different types of energy. (spi.6.14.4)

Thursday: The students will describe examples of energy conversions among the different forms of energy. (spi.6.14.4.)

Science Plans Feb. 18-22

Monday: No School (President’s Day)

Tuesday: The students will complete a study guide and a vocabulary review for the ch 9 test on Wednesday. (spi.6.7.3)

Wednesday: The students will complete the ch 9 test.

Thursday: Thes students will work on Study Island during class.

Friday: The students will complete lessons 7-10 in the TCAP Coach book.

Science Plans Feb. 11-15

Monday: The students will complete the opening activity for ch 9 where they will visualize the distances of the planets in the solar system using toilet paper. (spi.6.7.1) 

Tuesday: The students will watch a Brain Pop on the outer planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and the dwarf planet Pluto. (spi. 6.7.3)

Wednesday: The students will discuss the moons of the planets in our solar system and complete the workbook pages for ch 9 sec 2. (spi.6.7.3)

Thursday: The students will illustrate a solar and a lunar eclipse and watch a video on solar and lunar eclipses.  (spi.6.7.3)

Friday: The students will examine other small bodies in the solar system such as comets and asteroids. (spi.6.7.1) Brain Pop videos. 

Science Plans Feb. 4-8

Monday: The students will discuss the characteristics of the outer planets and create a 4-tab book. (spi.6.7.1)

Tuesday: Students will present science fair projects.

Wednesday: Students will present science fair projects.

Thursday: Students will present science fair projects.

Friday: The students will complete the 4-tab book on the outer planets from Monday and view the Brain Pop for each of the outer planets. (spi.6.7.1)

Science Plans Jan. 28 – Feb. 1

Science Fair Projects are due Feb. 6th

All Huntsville money for trip or t-shirts is due by Thursday Jan. 31st 

Please bring a roll of toilet paper to class for an activity next Monday!!!

 Monday: The students will complete lessons 2-4 in the TCAP Coach book. Results from their science Fair Projects are due.

Tuesday: The students will discuss rotation vs. revolution from ch 8 section 1 and complete an activity where they calculate their ages on different planets. (spi. 6.7.4)

Wednesday: The students will complete the workbook pages for ch 8 sec 1, watch a video and a Brain Pop on rotation and revolution. (spi.6.7.4)

Thursday: The students will discuss the inner planets Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars and complete the workbook pages for these planets. (spi.6.7.3)

Friday: The students will watch a Brain PoP on Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars the inner planets. (spi.6.7.3)

Science Plans Jan. 21-25

There are 6 seats left on the field trip to the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Al on March 8th.  Please send in $65 by Jan. 31 along with the registration form which can be printed from the link on the left of the page.

Money for t-shirts and gift bags for the field trip to the Space and Rocket Center is due by Jan. 31.

Monday: No School – Martin Luther King

Tuesday: The students will complete the workbook pages for ch 6 section 3 and illustrate a diagram to show the position of the Earth, moon and sun during spring and neap tides . (spi.6.7.4)

Wednesday: The students will complete the ch 6 study guide for the test on Thursday and play the game Seafaring Game Show. (spi.6.7.4)

Thursday: The students will complete the ch 6 quiz and watch a video over concepts from ch 6 and ch 7. (spi.6.7.4) The students will answer questions that go along with the video.

Friday: The students will finish the video and questions from concepts in ch 6 and ch 7. (spi.6.7.4)

Science Plans Jan. 14-18

Monday: The students complete a vocabulary review and a study guide for the ch 7 quiz on Tuesday.

Tuesday: The students will complete the ch 7 quiz and the TCAP COACH pre-test question 33-64.

Wednesday: The students will illustrate the parts of a wave and discuss how waves travel, wave speed and the types of waves. They will also complete the Ocean Waves Characteristics activity. Chapter 6 section 2 (spi.6.7.4 and 6.14.1)

Thursday: The students will discuss the different types of tides and their relationship with the Earth, sun and moon. chapter 6 section 3 (spi.6.7.4)

Friday:   We will watch a video on waves, view a Brain Pop and complete a worksheet on the tides.(spi.6.7.4)

Science Plans Jan. 7-11

Monday: The students will locate and describe the three major climate zones and describe the different biomes found in each climate zone. They will also complete A Tale of Three Climates. (ch 7 section 2) (spi.6.7.3)

Tuesday: The students will create a travel brochure for one of the three major climate zones. (spi.6.7.3)

Wednesday: The students will describe how Earth’s climate has changed over time and explain the greenhouse effect and its role in global warming. (ch 7 section 3) (spi.6.7.3)

Thursday: The students will review the concepts in ch 7 through a study guide and a vocabulary review in preparation for the quiz on Friday.

Friday: The students will complete the Ch 7 Quiz. (spi.6.7.3)

Science Plans Dec 17-21

Monday: The students will create an edible geologic column. (spi.6.6.1)

Tuesday: The students will go over the second Think Link results.

Wednesday: The students will watch a video over concepts in chapters 3 and 5. They will answer questions through out the video. (spi.6.6.1)

Thursday: The students will finish the video and their questions.

Friday: No School!! Have a GREAT Winter break!!!
